Today’s inspiration comes from illustrator Sakimi Chan. I know … it really doesn’t make any sense at all. Why is an Irish girl becoming a Samurai and why is her facial shape so … un-Irish? And why are there odd shaped shavings floating around her head like leaves? And why is her right hand not on the handle where it belongs? Why does her hair look dry when she is sweating – for that matter, why isn’t her hair pulled back so she can see her foe better? But if you can figure out the answers to all of those questions – or if you can ignore them – you have to appreciate the aesthetic use of the golden ratio (including the complimentary color choices), the interesting lighting, and the calm, yet intense expression on the figure.
