5.0 out of 5 stars Imaginative, Engaging & Fast-Paced, May 13, 2014
By L. Collins
“Moon 514: Blaze and the White Griffon” is the kind of imaginative novel that manages to capture your attention right from the start with fantastic storytelling, engaging characters, strong dialogue and a plot that is refreshingly original. Drew Briney does a wonderful job of sucking the reader into this tale of Earth, magic, aliens, intrigue, mystery and courage to fight for what you believe in and for what remains of mankind.

The story is lushly written with an eye for detail and a clear aim to entertain the reader; the story has wonderful world-building and character development that feel authentic, multi-layered and intricately woven together… creating a novel that sparks with originality, imagination and enjoyable reading. It’s post-apocalyptic with a side of supernatural and emotionally charged drama that reads like an epic space opera that is both memorable and worthy of a second (or third) reread.

Overall, Mr. Briney certainly made an impression with this novel, forging a connection between me and the story that I would certainly recommend to other readers.

Whenever an author takes on the task of reimagining life as we know it, it is surely a big and hefty job. Especially when they try to make it a plausible shift…. something that is credible, that makes you think, “hey, it could happen…”

That is what Drew Briney has done in Moon 514 — and he’s done it well. …

This story is well-written, fast paced and has a great unique viewpoint on how the impossible is possible. The story moves and weaves quickly, and each step seems logical yet is surprising. This reimagining of a future based in the destruction of the human race is one you won’t forget!

5.0 out of 5 stars A new favorite author for me!, May 12, 2014

“Moon 514: Blaze and the White Griffon” is one of my favorite books, now. I ended up reading it in one sitting, because I just could not bring myself to put it down until I finished it, and now I might just have to read it again because it is such a well-written sci-fi book! Drew Biney gives a very unique outlook on what life might be like in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world, and I truly enjoyed reading something that was fresh and original.

Briney is definitely an author to watch out for, and I look forward to tracking his future as an author. This book was an amazing read mixing science fiction, fantasy, and post-apocalyptic themes. The plot and storyline is amazing, and the characters are richly developed and believably depicted. Kudos all around!

The story reminds me of that oft-repeated quote that, more or less, says: to a primitive civilization, advanced technology can seem like magic. In ‘Moon 514’, however, author Drew Briney takes it to a pulse-pounding level that I believe will look great on the silver screen, too. I immensely enjoyed reading this book, and I highly recommend it to fans of the genre. ‘Moon 514’ deserves all the five-star ratings it eventually receives. Get your copy today.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing, refreshing new addition to the genre, May 5, 2014

The main thing that stood out to me about this book is the author’s view of a “post apocalyptic world”, it’s not what you would typically expect when you first see the words, and I’m glad that Drew Briney isn’t afraid to stand out and offer his own unique twist to the genre, which, I should mention, is executed near flawlessly through the great writing. Instead of using the same archetypes that almost everyone else uses, the author offers readers a unique view of what the future and technology may look like. Most people have this grim, mechanical, almost artificial view of the future – but Drew Briney has a much different perspective that I’m sure will impress even the most critical fans of the genre out there.

I feel I should mention that there is a strong fantasy influence … and I think the author has done a really great job of adding the fantasy influence, without making it overbearing or too over-the-top to the point that it takes away from the sci-fi element of the book. …

No story is perfect, but “Moon 514: Blaze and the White Griffon” comes pretty close to perfect, in my eyes.
